COMFORT YE MY PEOPLE
“He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.”  (Ps. 91:1-4).

I just love reading this message of comfort! Nothing has the power to make one feel so protected, so comforted, so loved and cared for. We can never ever be separated from the comfort of our Father because we exist as one with Him. We are His oneness expressed. And God is not a respecter of persons. He loves each of us unconditionally and equally. We don’t have to earn that love; we are always worthy of it. After all, we are what God is reflecting on, what He is thinking...and our Creator never sees one of His ideas as being unworthy of His comfort or love. He only beholds us as His own perfection.

Any mortal history one may have had which wasn’t Christlike is totally unknown to God. And only what God knows is real. The third Tenet of Christian Science, in The Christian Science Manual, tells us..."We acknowledge God's forgiveness of sin in the destruction of sin and the spiritual understanding that casts out evil as unreal. But the belief in sin is punished so long as the belief lasts." So as soon as unChristlike behavior is repented of and reformation has taken place, we realize that our purity as a child of God has never been tarnished. This pureness opens the door for us to experience the love and comfort which God has never ceased to anoint us with.

“Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.”  (Ps. 23).
